Phenylsilane as an effective desulfinylation reagent
The reduction using phenylsilane in a KOH-catalyzed system was applied successfully to the conversion of sulfinyl-substituted cyclopropylcarboxylates into the corresponding alcohols. The presence of sulfinyl substituents in the α-position to the carboxylate group caused a desulfinylation product formation with full regio- and stereoselectivity, instead of a carbonyl group reduction. Investigati...
متن کاملSynthesis of 1,4-amino alcohols by Grignard reagent addition to THF and N-tosyliminobenzyliodinane.
The synthesis of 1,4-amino alcohols from THF treated with N-tosyliminobenzyliodinane (PhINTs) followed by a Grignard reagent under mild reaction conditions at room temperature is described herein. Various Grignard reagents were shown to be compatible, furnishing the corresponding 4-substituted-N-1,4-tosylamino alcohols in good to excellent yields. A partial or full detosylation of the N-tosyl-1...
متن کاملFluorination of alcohols and diols with a novel fluorous deoxy-fluorination reagent
We prepared a novel fluorous deoxy-fluorination reagent N,N-diethyl--difluoro-[3,5-bis(1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyl)benzyl]amine (1b) from 3,5-diiodobenzoic acid (3b) via N,N-diethyl-3,5-bis(1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyl)benzamide (2b) in four steps and used it for the fluorination of alcohols and diols. After the fluorination reactions, the isolation of the products and recovery of 2b was perfor...
متن کاملIsomerization reactions of allylic alcohols into ketones with the Grubbs reagent.
Allylic alcohols were isomerized into ketones by the action of the Grubbs reagent. Some model alcohols were prepared and tested under similar conditions to reveal that less substituted alkenes rearrange more easily. More hindered alcohols are stable under these conditions, however, the simple allylic alcohols tend to isomerize producing ethyl ketone and the corresponding degraded methyl ketone.
متن کاملPretreatment of Cotton Fibres with Alcohols to Optimize Dye Uptake
Cotton fibres were subjected to cleaning process and then characterized for maturity. Decrystallisation and swelling processes with caustic soda, ethanol, propan-2-ol and Trichloroethene on the native fibres were carried out. The effects of these on the strength and moisture regain were investigated. The activation energies of the dyeings were also analysed with Durazol Scarlet Red 4 BAS. The r...
